In short

  1. 1One batch can hold different formats: PNG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, PSD, SVG and RAW files together.
  2. 2Every result is a JPG at quality 85, the format nearly every form, inbox and printer accepts.
  3. 3Transparent areas are filled with white; layers, animation and extra frames are flattened to one image.

One target for a mixed folder

Folders of pictures rarely contain one format. Phone photos arrive as HEIC, screenshots as PNG, pictures saved from websites as WebP or AVIF, scans as TIFF, and design files as PSD or SVG. When you need to upload them all, send them to a printer or put them in a shared album, the mix becomes a problem.

JPG is the format that solves it. It was standardized as ITU-T T.81 in 1992 and is read by every phone, computer, browser, printer and upload form. Converting the whole folder to JPG means you no longer have to check what each recipient supports.

This page takes any of the formats the converter reads, in one batch, and returns JPGs with the same settings. You do not need to sort the files by type first or visit a separate page for each source.

It also saves time when you receive pictures from several people. A school class, a club or a family event produces photos from different phones and apps, and collecting them as JPG gives everyone the same kind of file for the album, the newsletter or the print order.

What happens to each kind of source

Most sources become JPG without any decisions, but a few features cannot cross over, because JPG stores exactly one flat, opaque, 8-bit picture. The grid below shows how each group of formats is handled. If one of those features matters, convert that file to PNG instead.

Orientation is applied for every source that records it, so phone photos and camera files come out upright. Colors are kept through the embedded profile, and the dimensions stay as they were unless you set a new size under Resize output.

Phone photos
HEIC and HEIF become JPGs at full resolution, turned upright. Location data is removed by default.
Web images
WebP and AVIF pictures convert directly; transparent areas get a white fill and animations keep their first frame.
Design files
PSD files give their visible, flattened image. SVG and EPS are drawn at their own size or the width you set.
Camera RAW
CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, PEF, RW2 and DNG are developed with neutral settings and saved as 8-bit JPG.
Scans and print files
TIFF and BMP convert to much smaller JPGs; multi-page TIFFs give their first page.
Icons and graphics
ICO, PNG and GIF convert too, though graphics with sharp edges often look better kept as PNG.

Image to JPG questions

Which image formats can I convert to JPG here?

Common formats such as PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP and TIFF, plus PSD, SVG, EPS, ICO, JPEG 2000, JPEG XL and RAW files from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, Pentax and Panasonic cameras, as well as DNG.

Can I mix different image formats in one batch?

Yes. Each file is read in its own format and every result is a JPG with the same quality and size settings. A batch holds up to 20 files of up to 95 MB each.

What happens to layers when converting a PSD to JPG?

The visible, combined image is converted. JPG has a single flat layer, so the separate layers and adjustment settings are not kept.

Do RAW camera files lose quality when converted to JPG?

RAW files hold more tonal range than a JPG can store. The converter develops them with neutral settings and saves an 8-bit JPG; for fine control over exposure and white balance, develop them in a RAW editor first.

Why convert everything to JPG rather than PNG?

JPG gives the smallest files for photos and is accepted by every upload form, inbox and printer. Pick PNG instead for graphics with transparency or sharp text.

JPG is the only format here with no gaps. HEIC opens in Safari 17 and later only, and Android leaves it optional. Sources: MDN image types, caniuse, Android media formats.

The table covers browsers and Android, where most pictures are viewed today. Even there, HEIC is the weak spot. Outside the browser the gaps grow: office programs, print services and many upload forms list only JPG and PNG, and some only JPG. Formats such as PSD, TIFF and RAW are not shown in browsers at all.

If a file already is a JPG, there is no need to include it, since converting would only add another lossy save. Sort those out first and convert the rest. For one specific source, the dedicated pages such as HEIC to JPG and WebP to JPG come with settings tuned for it.

Settings for the whole batch

Every file in a batch gets the same quality, background and size. Quality 85 suits photos for screens and most prints. If the folder contains transparent logos, decide on the fill color before converting. For upload forms with a size limit in kilobytes, convert first and then run the JPGs through the Compress Image tool.

Location and camera details are removed by default, and the color profile is kept so colors stay right. Uploads are deleted as soon as they are converted, and the JPGs 30 minutes later. For other target formats, the Image Converter takes the same files.
