85 keeps photos visually identical to the original. Lower it only when you need a smaller file.
JPG, BMP and EPS have no transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with this color.
Hex color used behind transparent pixels, e.g. #FFFFFF.
This format holds a single image. Choose GIF or WebP output if you want to keep the animation.
A multi-size icon contains several resolutions in one file; browsers and operating systems pick the one they need.
Keep the original dimensions, or enter one side and the aspect ratio is kept.

Percentage of the original dimensions.
sRGB is right for screens and the web. Keep the original for print workflows; grayscale discards color.
Metadata only, 0 keeps the original value. Printers and some portals read this number; it does not change pixel dimensions.

2001
Year SVG 1.0 became a W3C Recommendation
SVG describes shapes as instructions, defined by the W3C. A PNG is those shapes drawn once as pixels, at a size you choose.
Why an SVG needs a PNG copy
SVG is the format designers prefer for logos and icons, and for good reason. It describes lines, curves, colors and text as instructions, so the drawing stays sharp at any size and the files are often tiny. Browsers display SVG natively, and design tools and cutting machines import it.
The trouble starts when the logo has to go somewhere that only takes pixel images. Social networks, online marketplaces, email signatures, office documents and many upload forms accept PNG and JPG but not SVG. Some reject it simply because it is unfamiliar, others because an SVG file can contain scripts and links, which is a security risk for a site that displays uploads.
A PNG avoids both issues. It is a plain grid of pixels with a transparent background, accepted almost everywhere, and it looks exactly like the SVG at the size you rendered it.
SVG and PNG compared
SVG
SVG graphic
The W3C's XML-based vector format, published as a standard in 2001. Shapes and text are described as instructions rather than pixels, so the image stays sharp at any size, and it supports transparency and animation. Browsers render it natively, and cutting machines and design tools import it.

PNG
PNG image
An open raster format the PNG Development Group published in 1996 as a patent-free replacement for GIF. Compression is lossless and a full alpha channel keeps soft edges and cutouts clean. It suits screenshots, logos and interface graphics; photos come out much larger than as JPG.
- Lossless
- Transparency
- Still images only
Why convertSVG to PNG freezes a scalable drawing into pixels at one size you pick, keeping its transparency. You lose the ability to enlarge it later without blur, and gain a file every platform accepts. Render big enough for its largest use; for a favicon or app icon, SVG to ICO builds the icon sizes in one file.
Both formats support transparency, which is why SVG logos usually become PNGs rather than JPGs. Edges are anti-aliased during rendering, so curves look smooth instead of jagged, and the semi-transparent edge pixels are kept in PNG's alpha channel.
The one real difference is scalability. The SVG can be drawn at any size; the PNG has a fixed number of pixels. Enlarging a PNG later makes it soft, so render it at the size you actually need, or larger. Making a smaller copy from a large PNG is always fine.
How an SVG becomes pixels
Converting an SVG is not like converting a photo. There are no pixels to decode, only a description of shapes. The converter reads that description and draws it, a step called rasterizing, at the width you set. Then the drawing is stored as a PNG.
The SVG's shapes, colors and text are drawn onto a pixel grid at the width you chose, then saved losslessly as PNG with the transparent areas kept. The size setting is the one that matters here. For other targets from the same files, open the Image Converter.
Choosing the width
The preset width of 1024 pixels suits slides, documents, profile pictures and most web uses. The height is calculated from the SVG's own proportions, so a wide logo comes out wide and a square icon square. If you need an exact height instead, choose Set height; for icons that must fit a square, Set longest side is the easiest choice.
For high-density screens, render at twice the size the image will be shown at. For print, ask for the size in pixels, or multiply the print size in inches by the printer's resolution. You can convert the same SVG several times at different widths, and every copy will be sharp.
If you only need a smaller copy of an existing PNG, Resize Image does that directly. For an SVG, it is always better to render a new PNG at the target size than to scale an old one.
Fonts, links and other details
SVG files from design tools sometimes reference things outside themselves. Text may name a font without embedding it, and images may be linked rather than included. The converter renders what the file itself contains. Missing fonts are replaced with a similar one, and linked images that cannot be loaded are left out.
To avoid surprises, export the SVG with text converted to outlines and with images embedded. Most design tools offer both options in their SVG export dialog. Metadata in the SVG, such as editor comments, is not copied into the PNG.
Colors are rendered in sRGB, the color space every screen and browser expects, so a brand color defined in the SVG looks the same in the PNG. If the SVG has a background rectangle, it is drawn as part of the image; only truly empty areas stay transparent.
How to convert SVG to PNG
Add your SVG files
Drop up to 20 .svg files on the box above, or press Choose Files.
Set the output width
A width of 1024 px is preset. Change it under Resize output in Advanced settings; the height follows the drawing's proportions.
Convert and download
Press Convert to PNG and save the rendered images.
SVG to PNG questions
What size will my PNG be after converting from SVG?
1024 pixels wide by default, with the height set by the drawing's own proportions. Enter any other width, a height or a longest side under Resize output. Because SVG is vector, a larger size stays perfectly sharp.
Does converting SVG to PNG keep the transparent background?
Yes. Areas the SVG leaves empty stay transparent in the PNG, so a logo can be placed on any background color.
Why does text in my SVG look different in the PNG?
An SVG often names a font instead of containing it. If that font is not available to the renderer, a similar one is used. To be safe, convert text to outlines in your design tool before exporting the SVG.
Why do websites refuse SVG uploads but accept PNG?
SVG is a text format that can contain scripts and links to other files, so many platforms block it for safety. A PNG is just pixels, which is why profile pictures, marketplaces and forms take it.
Can I convert an animated SVG to PNG?
You get a single still image showing the drawing in its starting state. PNG cannot store SVG animation.
What width should I choose for a logo PNG?
Use the largest size the PNG will be shown at, or twice that for high-density screens. For a logo in a slide or document, 1024 px is plenty; for print, ask the printer for the pixel size they need.
