Convert HEIC to JPEG and Keep Photo Details
Convert HEIC photos to JPEG while keeping the date, camera and place they were taken, so the copies sort and search like the originals.

85 keeps photos visually identical to the original. Lower it only when you need a smaller file.
JPG, BMP and EPS have no transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with this color.
Hex color used behind transparent pixels, e.g. #FFFFFF.
This format holds a single image. Choose GIF or WebP output if you want to keep the animation.
A multi-size icon contains several resolutions in one file; browsers and operating systems pick the one they need.
Keep the original dimensions, or enter one side and the aspect ratio is kept.
Pixels for the side you chose above.
Percentage of the original dimensions.
sRGB is right for screens and the web. Keep the original for print workflows; grayscale discards color.
Metadata only, 0 keeps the original value. Printers and some portals read this number; it does not change pixel dimensions.

- JPEG
- Also called .jpg · .jpeg · .jpe · image/jpeg
- The photo format standardized by the Joint Photographic Experts Group as ITU-T T.81. Whether a file ends in .jpg or .jpeg, the data inside is the same, so a form that says JPEG only accepts the files this page produces.
Why the photo details matter here
Most HEIC converters throw away everything except the pixels. That is fine for a single picture you attach to an email, but it ruins a photo library. Without the capture date, Google Photos, Windows Photos and Lightroom sort the pictures by the day they were converted, so a whole holiday lands on one afternoon. Without GPS data, the map view and place search stop working.
This page is set up for moving a library rather than sharing one image. Strip metadata is off, so each JPEG carries the date, camera and position recorded by the phone. The color profile stays as well, and the quality is set to 85, a level where photos look the same as the original at normal sizes.
The opposite case is just as common: a photo of a sofa you are selling online should not reveal where you live. For that, switch the option back on, or use the regular HEIC to JPG page, which removes the details by default.
From HEIC to JPEG
HEIC
HEIC photo
The HEIF container with HEVC-coded images, which iPhones and iPads use for camera photos. It keeps lossy photos smaller than JPG at similar detail and can also hold transparency, image sequences and Live Photo frames. Apple devices open it directly; Windows, older software and many websites often do not.

JPG
JPG photo
The photo format standardized by the JPEG committee in the early 1990s and still the safest way to share a picture. It stores one still image with lossy compression and has no transparent areas. Phones, cameras, office software, printers and web forms all read it.

Why convertPick JPEG when photos have to move into a library, backup service or editor that does not read HEIC, and you want each picture's date and place to come along. If you need lossless copies for editing instead, HEIC to PNG keeps every pixel.
HEIC and JPEG store the same kind of information around the picture. Both can carry EXIF fields for the date, camera and position, and both can embed an ICC color profile. That is why the details can be copied across one to one instead of being rebuilt.
What differs is the compression. HEIC uses the HEVC codec, while JPEG uses a method from the early 1990s that needs more bytes for the same detail. The JPEG files will usually take more space than the HEIC originals, so plan for a larger folder.
One detail is handled for you: the orientation. iPhones often store a photo sideways and add a rotation tag. The converter turns the pixels upright and resets the tag, so the JPEG does not appear rotated twice in apps that read the tag and once more in apps that ignore it.
How to convert HEIC to JPEG
Choose the HEIC photos
Drop up to 20 HEIC files on the box above or press Choose Files. Photos from iCloud, AirDrop and phone backups all work.
Leave the details on
This page keeps the photo details: Strip metadata is switched off. Tick it under Advanced settings if you are sharing the pictures publicly.
Convert and download
Press Convert to JPG. The files come out with the .jpg extension, which is the same JPEG format.
HEIC to JPEG questions
A form asks for JPEG but the converter makes .jpg files. Is that accepted?
Yes. JPEG is the name of the format and .jpg is its usual file extension; .jpeg is a longer spelling of the same thing. A form that asks for JPEG accepts .jpg files, and the media type sent with the upload is image/jpeg in both cases.
Which photo details stay in the JPEG after conversion from HEIC?
With Strip metadata off, the capture date and time, camera model, exposure settings and GPS position are copied into the JPEG's EXIF data. The color profile is kept as well.
Should I remove the location before sharing converted HEIC photos?
If the pictures go to social media, a marketplace listing or anyone you do not know, yes. Tick Strip metadata before converting and the GPS position and camera details are left out.
Why do my converted photos show the wrong date in Google Photos or Windows?
When the details are stripped, an app falls back to the file's own date, which is the day you converted it. Convert again with Strip metadata off and the original capture date travels with the file.
Can HEIC burst shots or image sequences become JPEG?
A HEIC file can hold several images. The converter writes the primary image, which is the one Photos shows as the cover, as one JPEG per file.
How many HEIC files can I convert to JPEG at once?
Up to 20 files per batch, each up to 95 MB. For a larger library, run several batches; every batch uses the settings you chose.
HEIC support in numbers
Apple made HEIF with HEVC the iPhone camera's high-efficiency format in iOS 11, the same year the container was published as ISO/IEC 23008-12. Desktop browsers took far longer: Safari began showing HEIC in version 17, and Chrome, Edge and Firefox still do not. That gap is why so many people end up looking for a converter.
JPEG went through no such wait. Its decoder has been part of every operating system, browser and photo printer for decades, which makes it the format to hand to software you do not control.
If you want new photos to skip the step entirely, Apple's Camera > Formats > Most Compatible setting saves future pictures as JPEG. It does not touch photos already in the library, so existing HEIC files still need converting before they move to another platform.
Moving a photo library in batches
A batch holds 20 photos of up to 95 MB each. Export a month or an album at a time from Photos or iCloud, convert it here, and import the JPEGs into the new library before you move on to the next one. Check a few files for the right date before you delete anything.
Uploaded HEIC files are deleted as soon as they are processed and the JPEGs 30 minutes later. If the library also needs smaller files for a cloud plan, run the results through the Compress Image tool, which keeps EXIF data when you ask it to.
