Daylight saving in Victoria
Victoria uses the same daylight saving rule as New South Wales. Clocks go forward from 2:00 AM to 3:00 AM on the first Sunday in October and back from 3:00 AM to 2:00 AM on the first Sunday in April. The rule has been fixed since 2008, when the south-eastern states moved to a longer season together; the NSW Government page lists the shared dates.
Victoria's daylight saving is set by state law, the Summer Time Act, and the dates are agreed with the other south-eastern states so that Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Hobart always change together.

Hours to add to the time in Melbourne; a minus sign means the other city is behind
For the northern hemisphere, Melbourne's summer falls in their winter, which pushes the gaps to the extreme in January: London eleven hours behind and New York sixteen. In July the gaps shrink to nine and fourteen.
Australian Open night sessions in January start in the evening AEDT, which is morning in Europe and the middle of the night on the US East Coast. The Sydney clock shows the same zone, and the AEST to PST converter lists hours against the US West Coast.
On the change nights, Melbourne loses an hour of sleep in October and gains one in April. Trams and trains run to the clock, and the Victorian timetables simply show local time on each side of the change.
