AESTAustralian Eastern Time
––:––
GMT +10 hours gives AEST; GMT +11 hours gives AEDT, which Sydney and Melbourne use from October to April.
Why the answer is 10 or 11
GMT here is the fixed UTC+0 reference with no summer time, kept as Etc/GMT in the IANA time zone database. Eastern Australia is UTC+10 in its winter. New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT and Tasmania move to UTC+11 on the first Sunday in October and come back on the first Sunday in April, as the NSW Government lists.
Queensland stays at UTC+10 all year, so in the southern summer Brisbane is an hour behind Sydney although both are in the same zone on the map.

Reading GMT schedules in Australia
International schedules often list times in GMT or UTC: flight departures, satellite broadcasts, software releases and online exams. A release at 09:00 GMT is 7:00 PM in Sydney in the Australian winter or 8:00 PM in summer, while a 22:00 GMT event lands on the next morning, at 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM.
Because the Australian summer starts in October and ends in April, an event that repeats every week at the same GMT time moves by one hour in Sydney twice a year. Recheck the time in early October and early April.
Perth
Western Australia uses UTC+8 with no daylight saving: always 8 hours ahead of GMT.
Adelaide and Darwin
Central Australia is UTC+9:30. Adelaide adds daylight saving (UTC+10:30); Darwin does not.
Brisbane
UTC+10 all year, the same as AEST, with no summer change.
Check the live Sydney clock or the Perth clock, and use AEST to GMT for the reverse.
