14.5 psi
in one bar, rounded
Exact ratio: 1 bar = 100,000 Pa and 1 psi = 6,894.757 Pa, so 1 bar ≈ 14.5038 psi.

Bikes, compressors and pressure washers
Bicycle pumps made for Europe often have a bar scale, while tires printed for the US market show psi. A road tire marked 80 to 100 psi wants about 5.5 to 6.9 bar; a mountain bike tire at 30 psi wants about 2.1 bar. Air compressors, airbrushes and pressure washers are rated the same way, and a tool that needs 90 psi needs about 6.2 bar from the tank.
When a range is given, set the pressure for the rider's weight and the surface rather than going to the top of it. A rough road rides better and grips more at the lower end.
Why psi is an odd number in metric
Psi is built from three US and international constants: the pound of 0.45359237 kg, standard gravity of 9.80665 m/s², and the inch of 0.0254 m. Multiply the first two and divide by the square of the third and you get 6,894.757 pascals, a number with a long tail of decimals. The bar, by contrast, is a round 100,000 Pa. NIST Special Publication 811 lists the psi factor in its conversion tables.
Kilopascals sit on the same scale as bar; kPa to psi works from those, and atm to bar connects both to the standard atmosphere.
Psi to bar questions
How many bar is 1 psi?
About 0.0689476 bar, or 68.95 millibar.
What is 35 psi in bar?
About 2.41 bar.
A pump is rated at 100 psi. What is that in bar?
About 6.89 bar. Road bike tires and small air compressors often sit in this range.
What is 3,000 psi in bar?
About 206.8 bar. US aluminum scuba cylinders are commonly rated at 3,000 psi.
