When Europe changes its clocks
European Union countries move to summer time together at 01:00 UTC on the last Sunday in March and return to standard time at 01:00 UTC on the last Sunday in October, as set by Directive 2000/84/EC. Because the switch happens at the same instant everywhere, Paris and Berlin change at 2:00 AM local time on the same night.
India does not use daylight saving, so the gap is 4 h 30 min for about five months and 3 h 30 min for the other seven. The stretches below come from the IANA time zone database.

A good overlap for office work
Few pairs of zones share as many working hours as India and continental Europe. When the European day starts at 9:00 AM CET, it is 1:30 PM in India, which leaves four or five hours of shared office time. In summer the overlap grows by an hour, since 9:00 AM CEST is 12:30 PM IST.
A late-morning slot in Europe is usually the safest choice for both sides. Check the live clocks for Paris, Berlin and Delhi, or use CET to IST when you start from the European side.
Do
- Book shared calls between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM CET, which is mid-afternoon in India.
- Look again at weekly meetings after the last Sunday of March and October.
Avoid
- Treating the UK as CET. London is an hour behind Paris; use IST to GMT or the live clock for London.
- Writing CET for a July meeting. Europe is on CEST then, and a strict reader will be an hour off.
