Compress Image to 25 KB
Get a photo, signature or thumb impression to 25 KB, a size that leaves a safe margin under 30 KB caps and keeps more detail than a 20 KB file.

Up to 95 MB each· 20 files at once· Removed after 30 min
Your files are removed from our servers 30 minutes after processing.
Never shrink below this width when downscaling. 0 means no minimum.
Optionally set the dimensions before compressing. Forms that specify pixels as well as KB need both.
Pixels for the side you chose above.
The search for the target size will not go below this quality; it downscales instead.
4:2:0 halves color resolution and saves a lot on photos; 4:4:4 keeps sharp edges on text, logos and screenshots.
Lossy PNG quantises colors (like TinyPNG) and is far smaller; lossless keeps every pixel.

At 25 KB you are below every 30 KB cap and still a quarter larger than a 20 KB file, which is visible in fine strokes and faces.
Who needs a 25 KB file
Few published rules use 25 KB as their exact number. It is more often the size people choose to sit safely inside a wider window. NTA's NEET (UG) 2020 notice, for example, asked for a signature and a left-hand thumb impression of 4 to 30 KB each. A 25 KB file is well inside that range and keeps more detail than one pushed toward the bottom of it.
If your form does say 25 KB, this preset matches it directly. If it says 20 KB, use the 20 KB preset instead: a 25 KB file would be rejected. The point of reading the rule first is that a few kilobytes either way decide whether the upload goes through.
A 25 KB target can also help outside of forms. Some internal tools, intranet profile pages and older content systems set small caps for avatars and thumbnails. When the cap you are given is close to this number, the same logic applies: find the stated maximum, stay a little under it, and keep the pixel size no larger than the place where the image will be shown.
Where 25 KB sits among common limits
- 10KBLower edge of many signature windows; files below this are often refused as too small.
- 20KBTop of the IBPS signature window and the floor for photos on the same guideline.
- 25KBSafe target for any cap of 30 KB, with room for rounding.Recommended
- 30KBTop of the NEET (UG) 2020 window for signatures and thumb impressions.
- 50KBTop of the IBPS photograph window; see the 50 KB preset.
The IBPS figures come from an upload guideline on the IBPS registration site, which asks for a signature of 10 to 20 KB and a photograph of 20 to 50 KB. Each recruitment notice sets its own limits, so check the one for your exam before you rely on a number.
Compress an image to 25 KB in three steps
Choose the image
Drop the file on the box above or press Choose Files. Phone photos in HEIC work as well as JPG and PNG.
Check the target
25 KB is filled in. Change the number only if your form states a different maximum, and set an output format if it asks for JPG.
Compress and save
Press Compress. The new size appears next to the file; download it and upload it to the form.
25 KB image questions
My form allows up to 30 KB. Why aim for 25 KB?
It leaves room for differences in how sites count a kilobyte and for any small overhead the portal adds. A file at 25 KB passes a 30 KB cap everywhere, while one at 29.9 KB can fail on a strict check.
Is 25 KB enough for a passport-style face photo?
For a small one, yes. At a width of a few hundred pixels a face stays clear. If the form also names exact pixels, set them under Resize first so the tool spends the 25 KB on the size the form wants.
What if the form needs 25 KB as a minimum, not a maximum?
Then this preset is the wrong tool, because it only makes files smaller. Upload the original if it is already above 25 KB, or use Increase Image Size to bring a tiny file up to the floor.
Can I stop the image from being made smaller in pixels?
Yes. Switch off Allow downscaling, or set a Minimum width. The tool then changes quality only, and if 25 KB cannot be reached that way it returns the closest size it managed.
Does a WebP at 25 KB look better than a JPG at 25 KB?
Usually a little, because WebP compresses more efficiently. But many government and exam portals accept only JPG, so keep JPG unless the form lists WebP.
Why did my 25 KB file come out at 24 KB?
File size moves in small steps as quality changes, and the tool always stops on the safe side of the target. A result a little under 25 KB is expected.
How the tool reaches 25 KB
The tool tries quality first. It searches for the highest JPG quality that keeps the file at or under 25 KB, and in most cases that is all it takes for a signature or a cropped face. Only when quality reaches the lowest value allowed, 40 out of 100 by default, does it start reducing the pixel dimensions, a little at a time, until the file fits.
That order protects detail. Lowering quality softens fine texture, while lowering pixels removes it entirely, so the tool keeps the pixel size as long as it can. You can push the trade-off either way under Quality: raise Lowest quality allowed for cleaner edges and smaller pixels, or lower it to keep the dimensions.
Do
- Crop away empty paper or background before compressing, so the 25 KB goes to the face or the ink.
- Start from the original photo or scan, not from a copy that has already been compressed and saved several times.
Avoid
- Renaming a .png or .heic file to .jpg. The content stays the same format and careful portals reject it.
- Screenshots of a photo on your screen. They add the screen's own pixels and blur, and they compress worse.
Matching pixels and kilobytes together
Some forms list both a file size and a pixel size, and the two have to agree. Set the pixels under Dimensions → Resize first and keep the 25 KB target: the image is resized before compression, so the tool only has to find the right quality for that exact size. If the form gives centimeters, Resize Image converts them to pixels.
Up to 20 images can go in one batch, and each can be up to 95 MB before compression. Metadata such as GPS location is removed by default. Uploads are deleted after processing and the results 30 minutes later. For other targets and modes, open the main Compress Image tool.
